Trend Crush: Palm Prints

blazer: joie | clutch: dezso | bikini: beach riot | dress: club monaco

I'm really loving this palm print trend. Playful yet a little edgy and so perfect for summer. I especially love the blazer by Joie. Will you wear this tropical print this summer?

I'm off to Toronto today to finally see my family and friends since getting engaged. One of the many reasons living far from home can be hard. We are spending the weekend at my cottage to celebrate and catch up, and hopefully enjoy some sunshine. Then I head to Toronto with my girl friends to try on wedding dresses, I can't wait!

Thankfully July and August will calm down a little. Not that I haven't enjoyed all of the travel and chaos over the past few months (May and June have been a bit overwhelming), but I look forward to a little down time. I have also decided to begin a Weekend Snapshots series on the blog. I always love sharing photos of what my month looked like, and thought why not share photos like these every week? I hope you enjoy it! Have a lovely long weekend.

I hope you all enjoyed a lovely weekend! Vancouver has been experience a little bit of the "Juneuary" syndrome over the past few days, hopefully the sunny skies will return soon.

Summer Essentials

one: aritzia | two: gap | three: sephora | four: sephora | five: aritzia | six: aritzia | seven: sephora | eight: old navy

I've partnered up with the Coquitlam Centre to share some of my favourite summer pieces over the next few weeks. Starting with some summer trends I can't live without!

As I've mentioned before, I'm loving the structured cross body bags right now, and am seriously in love with this Foley + Corinna bag! Another piece I can't get enough of are my Karen Walker sunglasses. The tortoise shell print goes with everything. As far as my summer beauty must haves, some SPF concealer, lip gloss and a spritz of texturizing hair spray and I'm good to go!

All pieces can be found at some of my favourite stores at the Coquitlam Centre. Happy shopping!

Denim Dress

dress: anthropologie | purse: tory burch | sandals: madewell | sunglasses: karen walker | rings: Charlie and Lee

Do you ever find you have something in your closet that every time you see it you say to yourself "I should really wear that more"? Well this dress is one of those items. I found it at Anthropologie ages ago on sale for next to nothing, and really love it, but have worn it maybe twice. Then I found these sandals. I love these sandals. I am considering buying another pair or two because I love them so much. Well they seem to have solved this dress problem I was having. You see, sometimes something is just not quite right until it has the perfect accessory. Which is exactly how I feel about this dress, until these sandals came along it was incomplete.

Trend Crush: Mini Rings

image: Sincerely Jules | one: Ariel Gordon | two: Ariel Gordon | three: Charlie and Lee | four: Karen Walker | five: Charlie and Lee | six: Anine Bing | seven: Ariel Gordon | eight: Charlie and Lee | nine: Karen Walker

Last summer I was all about arm parties. Layering as many bracelets as possible in all different colours, sizes and textures. My jewelry drawer is proof of this, filled with more bracelets than any other type of jewelry. This summer I have moved on to a new layering obsession, rings. I have been loving the look of thin rings in all different metals, gold, rose gold, silver, and different shapes, layered together. They look so delicate and feminine and paired perfectly with a summery shade of nail polish. I especially love the Karen Walker dog ring!

A few other online sites I'm loving lately are The Urban Retreat and My Wardrobe.

Three Days in LA

sandals: Madewell | striped top: Madewell | shorts: Club Monaco | sunglasses: Karen Walker

Andrew and I decided to take a quick trip to LA a for a mini vacation over the weekend. We both really love California (I mean who doesn't?) and packed in as much as we could in the three days we were there.

We spent the first day shopping in Santa Monica and then headed to Venice Beach to enjoy the sights and a delicious meal at Cerveteca recommended by my dear friend Sophie (who happens to write a fantastic food and wine blog Sip Savour Share). After a few errands the next day we headed to Malibu to enjoy the sun, beach and some Bloody Mary's at Paradise Cove. We stayed in Manhattan Beach, so the rest of our time was spent there riding bikes on the beach, drooling over the fantastic farmer's market and of course doing a little more shopping.

Balcony Garden

I try and make the best of my tiny 5x5 balcony. A few window boxes filled with herbs (that I enjoy daily), pots filled with flowers and of course a barbecue. One day we will have a larger space that we can actually fit furniture on, but for now this will due!

Trend Crush: Market Tote

one: Sole Society | two: Club Monaco | three: Club Monaco | four: J.Crew

As you may know by now, I am slightly obsessed with markets. Almost every Saturday or Sunday I visit the Vancouver Farmer's Market, and anytime I travel I try to visit one. Which is why for me a straw market tote is a summer staple, not to mention the perfect beach bag. I currently own two, and somehow have been convincing myself lately that I need another (it's this exact thought process that has lead me to owning way too many striped shirts and boyfriend jeans). What are some of your summer staples?

Chunky Guacamole

There is nothing that screams summer to me more than guacamole. Admittedly I am quite obsessed, one of my favourite snack, breakfast, lunch or dinner items. I could seriously eat it all day long and for me, the chunkier the better. Hopefully you enjoy this recipe as much as I do (and currently am while writing this post!)

Ingredients:

4 avocados
1 lime
1/2 a shallot
1 plum tomato (or 2!)
1 jalapeño
a bunch of cilantro
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

Slice avocados in half lengthwise and scoop out centre into a bowl. Mash with a fork. Squeeze in juice of one lime. Dice shallot and jalapeño (seeds removed) and chop tomato and cilantro. Mix in with avocado, add salt and enjoy!

Wedding Planning

images from my two favourite wedding blogs once wed and style me pretty

Ever since Andrew popped the question all I can think about is our wedding. I try my best to focus on other things, school, general conversations, etc, but I am just too excited! After looking at venues last weekend, the reality that we are planning a wedding has really set in. Both in an exciting way and in a very overwhelming and slightly stressful way. I was surprised to find several venues were already booked for next summer and even the one after that, and quickly came to the realization that we need to get the ball rolling!

I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like our wedding to look like, which perhaps makes finding the right venue harder, but I am up for the challenge. As much as I know the whole process will be overwhelming and stressful at times, I'm looking forward to it and of course so excited to marry the love of my life!

May flew by so quickly. I feel like I just got back from my vacation, yet somehow I've been home for a month! I'm looking forward to the next few months of summer, which seem like they will be an extra special few months. My mom has decided to come live in BC, which I am so excited about. We are so close and living so far from each other for the past few years has been hard. My fiancé and I are starting to plan our wedding, which is both extremely overwhelming and exciting, and I have some big plans for this little blog soon! I hope you are all as excited about the arrival of June as I am!
